APR15® has grown up through the years to become what we feel is the most advanced topical pain solution on the market.
As usual, necessity was the mother of invention.
Our formulator, upon returning from a trip in 2002 and bitten by a bug, experienced some flu like symptoms his first day back. Nothing to be concerned about... Until it escalated. Attempting to get out of bed the next day he fell to the floor and every joint in his body burst with excruciating pain.
An emergency visit to his clinic, several Doctors consults, blood extracts, x-rays, and a menagerie of medical tests later - NO DIAGNOSIS.
A personal friend and Doctor told him his prognosis would only worsen without immediately starting a Methotrexate, Cox 2 inhibitors, and Prednisone protocol. This protocol was in our formulators opinion extremely damaging and potentially fatal.. look into it yourself and see. Very literally handicapped by pain, his hands had become curled over and hard to use, and he was unable to walk without assistance. He nearly accepted the treatment that he felt would kill him.
He still has the unfilled prescription.
Having an academic background at UBC and having written a research paper on Pain Mechanisms. As well as involvement with GMP laboratories formulating trans dermal delivery systems for active nutraceuticals he chose to seek a better solution.
His immediate concern being: REDUCE THE PAIN! It was ever present and debilitating, and needed to be reduced and it needed to be done without making a bad situation worse.
Able to secure and formulate specialty ingredients such as Lidocaine, Benzocaine, Menthol, extracts like Devil's Claw, Boswelia, Willow bark, and trans dermal liposome’s to topically deliver the nutraceutical load to the specific pained joints. APR15® was born.
The original concotion was a terrible color, smelled horrible, and the texture was course and unpleasant.
BUT IT WORKED!
Almost immediately the crude first iteration of APR15® reduced the pain and swelling in his hands, knees, elbows by noticeable amounts.
Overwhelmed with joy, his first thought was that EVERYBODY in pain needs this!
A short time, and MANY enhancements to the original formula later, his pain was very comfortably managed, and life back to normal. His friends kept asking to try this "APR stuff" of which he happily shared his personal supply in small jars.
Everyone he shared it with experienced fantastic success, including a nutraceutical sales executive who was ecstatic when his chronic back pain was relieved by APR15®. This began the journey of APR15 becoming available to the public in 2004.
Thousands of tubes and extremely happy customers later, APR15® has been enhanced even further to keep up with the latest developments in ingredients and pain research. Working with GMP labs, Health Canada, and the FDA, and sourcing top quality ingredients.
